In 2008, I began studying classical composition in Los Angeles under the tutelage of composer Steve Rothstein, Ph.D., with the idea of writing music for piano (which was my first instrument). I've always loved the music of Chopin, so my composition study began with writing seven emulations inspired by Chopin's amazing 24 Preludes.
The MP3's on this page are computer renderings (not my live performances) of those first seven emulations. They are renderings (instead of playing live) because Steve encouraged me to write what I heard in my head, not just what I was able to physically play. I hope you'll enjoy listening to them.
If you're a piano student, teacher, or performer, below each prelude is a link to the sheet music, which you can download and perform without any further permission. All these pieces are protected under copyright, so please print credits as follows for any performance: Written by Chuck Wild (ASCAP) © 2009 Gold Masque Music (ASCAP). All rights reserved.
I'd love to know if a piece was performed, so please email me with the details if you know of a performance. Many thanks!
